Halvings: who is next

Coins that cut their reward on schedule: Litecoin (LTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Bitcoin (BTC) and Zcash (ZEC). Dates are counted from the current block height and recalculated every hour.

What a halving is

A rule written into the coin itself: after a set number of blocks the block reward is cut in half. New coins start arriving twice as slowly, and that is how the supply approaches its ceiling.

Why every date says "around"

A halving is tied to a block, not to a calendar. We take the current height and the average block time over the past day and work out how long the remaining blocks will take. Blocks are found unevenly, so the date drifts by a few days and is recalculated every hour.

Common questions about halvings

Whose halving is closest?
Litecoin: around Aug 17, 2027, with 180,834 blocks to go. The reward drops from 6.25 to 3.125 LTC.
Which coins even have a halving?
Out of our directions: Litecoin (LTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Bitcoin (BTC) and Zcash (ZEC). They all follow the Bitcoin model — a hard supply ceiling and a reward that halves on schedule. Where there is no ceiling, there is no halving either.
Why does the date keep moving?
Because it is counted in blocks, not in days. The more hardware runs in the network, the faster blocks are found, and the date shifts a few days either way.
Does a halving move the price?
It cuts the flow of new coins, but the price is not set by that alone. Past halvings promise nothing about the future, and none of this is investment advice.
